
Ciara refuses to watch any of the coverage of Michael Jackson's child-abuse case, she says, because she doesn't want to be tainted by negativity.
"He's the king of pop! He's one of a kind, a genius! I hate what is happening to him at the moment and I fear, truly, that one day it could happen to me as well."
Surely she doesn't mean that she too will be accused of child abuse?
Her response is delivered loudly, eyes bulging, both fists clenched.
"No, no! What I'm talking about is the negativity that comes with fame, with public life. I've seen how bad it can get, and I just pray that the worst doesn't happen to me."
Her father, whose paternal pride soars like fireworks at the slightest opportunity, believes that, at just 19, his daughter has founder her calling. And fame, he predicts will not come at a price.
