In recognition of the recent media controversy stirred by an alleged association between Michael Jackson and members of the Nation of Islam, Fanclubs from around the world would like to state that our belief in Mr. Jackson as a man of good character, integrity, and high moral conduct is unfaltering. We support him in every way and, regardless of the religious affiliations of anyone he allows into his life, we refuse to pass judgment upon his choice of personal friends or business associates. In fact, should Mr. Jackson ever choose to exclude people from his life based solely upon differences in religion, this would not be consistent with the Michael Jackson we have come to know and love. Instead, we take Mr. Jackson at his word: "I will never stop loving people as Jesus told us to."
These words are consistent with feelings Mr. Jackson has expressed innumerable times, and the number of children he has helped throughout his life include children from everywhere in the world and from all different religions. We need no other evidence to prove to us that Mr. Jackson's love for mankind is genuine and is not based upon religious affiliation. We intend to stand by Mr. Jackson unconditionally throughout these trying times with the same steadfastness and commitment he has exemplified in his artistry and through his devotion to the children of the world. When Mr. Jackson wrote the words, "We Are The World," he meant exactly that, and we support him in that belief.
