About Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Celebration (Director's Cut)
This special, being rebroadcast with additional footage, was taped at Michael Jackson's 2001 Madison Square Garden concerts in New York City and celebrates the unparalleled success that he has enjoyed as a solo recording artist over the past three decades. Performing solo for the first time in more than 11 years, Michael takes to the stage with unforgettable performances of some of his greatest hits including "Billie Jean," "Black or White" and "Beat It." He also performs "You Rock My World," the first single from his new album Invincible. Turning back the clock, Michael also reunites with his brothers, Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Jermaine and Randy for the first time in almost 20 years. Among the memorable hits The Jackson 5 performs are the rhythmic "Can You Feel It," "I'll Be There" and "I Want You Back," their first number one single. Among the artists paying tribute to Jackson are multiple Grammy Award-winning singing superstar Whitney Houston, who opens the special with a rocking solo rendition of Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'." Pop phenomenon *NSYNC also performs a rousing version of The Jackson 5 classic "Dancing Machine" with the King of Pop himself. The young rap star Lil' Romeo is on hand to perform his current hit "My Baby," which pays homage to the Jackson 5 mega-hit "I Want You Back. Additional new performances includes "Missy Misdemeanor Elliot and Nelly Furtado "Get Ur Freak On;" Monica, Jill Scott, Deborah Cox and Al Jarreau "Ease on Down the Road;" and Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive."
