entrevista a Jonny Cochran

BootylishuzMJ on KoP transcribed this. I think everything recently points to it being business as usual as soon as MJ is completely free of Sony and the GH stuff.

TJ = Tom Joyner
JC = Johnny Cochran

I may have gotten TJ and J mixed up..

Anyway.. here:

TJ: Now let's start w/ Michael Jackson. Now JC.. hold up is it racism? Is it racism?

JC: Now let me put it this way. With regarding Michael, his issues probably run deeper than race, as you may very well know..

Sybil: Oh how very well put..

JC: It may run deeper than race. I think..

TJ: But he keeps sayin it's racism..

JC: Well he does. In his opinion, he has indicated that. We tried to say look, there's a whole problem with the industry and much of that problem is racism. Now Michael's problem, seems to me, is probably more financial.. you know this whole battle he has goin on with Sony, and I think we shouldn't necessarily combine the two. It seems to me that there's the issue where the industry does all kinds of things..

TJ: Well did you tell him that?..

JC: Oh yeah I shared with him..

J: Did u buy the last album sir?

JC: Uh.. yes I did.. I did buy Invincible..

J: That makes you and me.

JC: I did get Invincible.. but I have shared that with him..

Sybil: Does he get it?

J: You think he's politically incorrect?

JC: Well I'm not sayin he's politically incorrect but I'm sayin I think that there is a difference and I think that he needs to understand that he has an issue with Sony and his contract and goin' forward and there's a larger issue with regard to other artists who I think have really been takin' advantage of by the industry where their contracts are very honorous[?] that they have to pay for production costs and their video costs. Now some of this stuff reflects upon him but his career has been far different from the others..

Sybil: But does he get it? That he may not be the messenger cuz that's what J and I have been arguin that we are all in support, Johnny, of what he's sayin it's just that he's not the one to put the message out there.

JC: Sybill, I think he is startin to get that. I think he showed some courage by coming forward and goin' up with Rev. Sharpton but I think you're right that somebody else probably needs to carry the banner who has not had the career that he's had and the fanfare and all the money he has made over the years.. so it is.. I think ur point is well taken..
