Jackson Family Steps Up To Defend Michael
UPDATED: 2:30 PM PST January 27, 2005
Only four days remain until Michael Jackson faces prospective jurors in his child molestation case.
Each and every time Michael has gone to court, his family has been right by his side. Now, the King of Pop's father, Joe, and sister, La Toya, open up to Access Hollywood about what it’s been like watching Michael endure his public battle.
"The media's putting a spin on everything without finding out what it's really about and I worry about that," Joe Jackson told us. "They never tell the truth about anything."
While Michael could face up to 20 years behind bars if found guilty on molestation and conspiracy charges, his famous family stands firm behind their embattled loved one.
"We're always supportive, no matter what. No matter what," La Toya said. "He's doing great. Very strong."
But is Michael able to take in stride some of the things that have been said about him?
"He knows the truth. And so, you just take it with a grain of salt because you know the truth," La Toya added.
And when times get tough, who does Michael lean on the most? His brother Randy.
"Randy is always right there and he's there to help, that's what is so great," La Toya continued.
Nevertheless, Joe, the family patriarch, said he will remain a steady support system for his son in the weeks to come.
"I don't mind going because it makes your son that's on trial feel good to see his father and his mother sitting out there," Joe explained. "It makes him feel good to know that they're behind him."
And despite the legal nightmare that Michael has been dealing with, his dad is actually troubled by what his son was never able to achieve in his illustrious career.
"The only thing that I am sort of upset about in the whole situation is here's Michael, the biggest star known all over the world, and he never had a motion picture deal because they wouldn't give it to him. And he wanted it badly," his father revealed.
