Infomercial Of Trial For Future Release

18/01/2004

New York Post and the Sunday Times reports that Michael Jackson is drawing on the expertise of the Nation of Islam to make a television documentary about his trial, writes John Harlow.

The Sunday Times writes "Jackson helped a cameraman clamber to the roof of his limousine, then danced and saluted hundreds of fans from the top of the car outside the court at Santa Maria, north of Los Angeles, on Friday. The cameraman who filmed both Jackson and the hundreds of fans and journalists who surrounded his “convoy of love” outside the court was a “technical adviser” from the Nation of Islam.

“Michael wanted his own videographer for the rest of the trial to create a documentary which, when he is cleared, the television stations will be begging to show,” said a close associate of the singer.

A Los Angeles television executive said Jackson had already started sounding out the networks about showing his first self-directed television special at Christmas. “The footage would be valuable if he is cleared, but maybe priceless if he is convicted,” he said.

According to the New York Post, his team haven't decided exactly how to market a Jackson-under-suspicion video, sources say, but they're rolling cameras any time The Gloved One makes a move.
