Jackson Clan will leave America after trial
By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent
LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson, currently on $3 million bail after his
arrest on multiple counts of child molestation, has a shock in store for his
loyal fans. Seemingly upset at his latest legal woes and media scrutiny,
Jackson is making plans to leave America once and for all at the conclusion
of his trial, which is due to begin in late January next year. What's more -
the entire Jackson family will be following him in a bizarre show of protest
and solidarity for the once King of Pop.
Jackson's plans are already well underway, with several European properties
under consideration, but the family have already snapped up a 15 bedroom
mansion in Switzerland at a cost of nearly $7.3 million dollars. Even Janet
Jackson, who recently sold her permanent Miami residence in preparation,
plans to relocate to Europe, with just holidays homes remaining in the
United States.
An insider to the secret plan, who has also been closely involved with the
mastering of tracks for a new Michael Jackson album - The Ultimate
Collection, due to be released by Sony in November, said, "Michael feels
totally violated and unsafe in America now. Since the Police raided his
home, he didn't want to go back there, he was so sick of it all. He's always
been a strong person, but recent death threats and the fact that it's the
Police who are now on his back.... just made him feel totally harrassed
here. He thinks Europe or South Africa will be a safer place for him and his
family right now, and he's still so popular there... it's definitely
happening".
What's more, Jackson plans to announce his relocation to his fans in the way
he knows best - through his music. "He's recorded some new music for the new
album. One song, called "We've had enough" is a track that Michael
originally recorded nearly two years ago, but he has re-recorded it this
year with different lyrics, and as a duet....I can't say who with, but you
can probably guess... it's all about the family and the lies and how fed up
they all are". The plan is for the track, which rants about
"finger-pointing, fires burning" and "liberty's death", to be the final
number in Jackson's upcoming release, his final Sony Music record release
under a contract that, when signed in 1991, was worth almost one billion
dollars. The release includes four discs of Jackson's glory day greatest
hits and a final dvd disc of concert material.
"That final track will say it all - it's an angry track where Michael really
spits blood at the way he feels America has treated him and his family. It's
quite controversial in terms of content. Through it all, he believes he has
been mistreated here", the insider continues. In the end, the record
finishes with some amazing harmonies, which is like the family finding peace
at the end of the nightmare."
Before he can put his plan into action though, Jackson has one small detail
to settle - and that is his trial. It is by no means certain that Jackson
will escape a jail sentence at the end of the experience. Currently
Jackson's passport has been surrended to officials but he is free to apply
for retrieval before the trial actually begins in January. Last week, the
judge in his child molestation case again denied Jackson a reduction of his
£3 million bail amount, stating that the amount was justified to prevent
Jackson fleeing the country to escape prosecution.
Jackson's spokesperson, Raymone Bain, did not return calls for comment on
this story. "
