As plans are made for a DVD and CD release of last Friday's Tribute To Heroes US TV special featuring U2, Limp Bizkit, Mariah Carey and Bruce Springsteen, producers have revealed they turned down an offer from Michael Jackson to take part in the show. The producers felt Jackson 'didn't fit the spirit of the show' according to a source involved in the planning. 'The fear was that his performance would have been about him, not the victims,' said the source. Producers were worried that Jackson might turn the benefit into the kind of self-coronation orchestrated at his Madison Square Garden tribute shows earlier this month.
