According to Reuters and Daily Variety on the 19th December, Michael Jackson is planning to appear at both the Grammy Awards (27th February) and the American Music Awards (9th January).
This has become a news story in itself because Dick Clark, whose company produces the American Music Awards, announced that he has filed a $10m lawsuit against Michael Greene, president and chief executive of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which produces the Grammys.
Mr. Clark said he wanted Michael to perform at the AMAs because he would be receiving a unique "Artist of the Century" award at the show. But he claims that the Mr Greene will not allow Michael to perform at the AMAs show because he has agreed to perform at the Grammys.
Clark claims that the practice of keeping artists from performing on both the American Music Awards and the Grammys has been going on for years, and said there is "a long list" of artists who have been barred from appearing on his show.
Asked by Daily Variety whether Michael vwas slated to appear at the Grammy Awards, a Grammys spokesperson said, "I don't know of anybody who's been asked or invited (to appear on the show). Until we announce our nominees, we don't announce or confirm who's going to be on the show."
