Michael Jackson Starts Court Days Early

Michael Jackson's court days begin by 4:30 a.m., allowing him plenty of time to prepare well for court. Then he arrives at court early, well before the 8:30 a.m. start time, conscious of the day when Judge Rodney S. Melville chastised him for being late. One exception was when he became sick in his car on the way to court and was taken to an emergency room.
In court, Michael talks frequently with his attorneys, occasionally folding tissues to dab at his nose, or, during one emotional moment this week, at his eyes.
While his innermost thoughts remain private, firsthand observations of his behavior in the courtroom and comments from his spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain on Wednesday offered some insight into how he passes each day of the trial.
Jackson suggested last week that one of his first decisions of each day - what to wear - isn't only up to him. He often dresses in elaborate outfits that include different colored armbands, sparkling vests, and jeweled belts. Asked about an emblem he wore on his jacket, he told a reporter:
"My wardrobe guy puts it together.''
On Tuesday, after jurors watched the Bashir documentary, Michael told reporters he felt "good'' but "angry.''
Because the court's 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule includes only three breaks - and no lunch hour - there is no time for him to leave the courthouse to eat. Instead, he snacks throughout the day on healthy fare such as granola bars, said Bain. On Wednesday, a reporter spotted one of Michael's bodyguards delivering food to the courthouse in a picnic basket.
When court adjourns, Michael occasionally makes time for music, Bain said.
"That's the way he relaxes."
Bain also stated that Michael dines with his three children each night. As they eat, "they tell him what they've done all day.''
She didn't know when he goes to sleep. But before he does he holds his nightly strategy meeting with attorneys, preparing for the next day. Source: MJFC / AP
