VH1: You played on Michael Jackson’s Invincible album. Why didn’t he return the favor on Shaman?
Santana: Things change. We’re closer to being able to implement together. Prince is a Jehovah’s Witness now, too. So we all have something in common. We all have the gift – like you. Everyone has the gift. We just have to put Michael Jackson and Carlos and Prince aside and get to the real song that we can all complement life [with]. Michael Jackson or Prince or Carlos are not really important. It’s the songs that touch people’s hearts. That’s what important. And then you become important.
VH1: If you could get Prince and Michael Jackson together, maybe we should send you to the Middle East!
Santana: That’s what I want to do! I want to work with them and then go to the Middle East and do a concert over there. I dream of going to Arabia, not with an American flag, but with musicians and an open heart. Hopefully we can change some of the anger and fear that they have towards ourselves and we have towards them. Because we’re still one human family on this planet. If you don’t see it like that, then you’re a prehistoric reptile. You need to get with the angelic energy and see that we all come from God. We all come from the light; let’s behave like it. It’s not acceptable any more to just be quiet and let things happen when all of us – especially women – have the capacity to curb and abort war. This is why Supernatural and Shaman was done, so I can get this word in! [Laughs.]
