Snoop Plans To Outdo Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Video

Extended music video? Nah, he's filming a movie for his next LP.

Snoop Dogg took a rather daring approach to landing the part of Huggy Bear in the "Starsky & Hutch" movie.

"When I heard they was in development ... I put the word out that I already had the role," the rapper explained. "I forced them in a corner so they had to give it to me or they'd make themselves look bad."

Fortunately, Snoop won't have to utilize such tactics for his next project, and not because he's earning rave reviews for "Starsky & Hutch," which opens March 5 (see "Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson And Snoop Roll In 'Starsky & Hutch' Trailer"). He can have any part he wants in the movie because, as he might put it, he's "the Bo$$."

"It's called 'Snoopafly the Movie: The N---a You Hate to Love,' " Snoop said. "It's just representative of who I am and what I've been going through and how people perceive me. They either hate me so much they love me or they love me so much they hate me. That's just the way it is. She love me, she hate me, she love me, she hate me."

Snoop is making "Snoopafly" to accompany his next solo album (see "Snoop Dogg Buries Houston Team At Snooper Bowl II"), similar to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, but at full feature length.

"I'm just trying to step up, trying to change the rap game, 'cause it's getting boring, everyone competing to have the prettiest girls in their video and trying to be the most gangsta on the rap tip or whatnot," Snoop said. "I'm here to add another element to the game. I'm dropping a movie with my record."

Snoop has yet to cast the flick, but he hopes some co-stars from past movies, including Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson ("Starsky & Hutch"), will partake "if their schedules permit," he said. There's also no script yet.

"I'm gonna make a couple of songs, then I'll know exactly which direction I wanna go in with the movie," he said. "I just want it to be fun."

"Snoopafly the Movie" and the album are due in late summer or fall, after Snoop finishes touring with Linkin Park and Korn (see "Linkin Park Taking Snoop, Korn On Projekt Revolution Tour").

The rapper has two other films opening this year, "Soul Plane" (May 28) and "The L.A. Riot Spectacular" (see "Snoop, Porn Stars To Appear In Satire Of 1992's L.A. Riots"), and he's closing a deal with Adam Sandler to co-star in a remake of "The Longest Yard" (see "Snoop Dogg In Talks To Star With Adam Sandler In 'Longest Yard' Remake").

"I'm supposed to be playing a wide receiver," Snoop said of his role. "That's why I've been playing football, trying to get in shape."

Though Snoop isn't exactly known as a serious actor, he said he's quite dedicated to the trade. For "Starsky & Hutch," he was heavily involved in creating Huggy Bear.

"I came up with everything from the outfits, to the conversation, to the look, to the whole thing," he said. "That was my car that we used in the scene. It was all about being able to have that freedom to add my emphasis to it."

Snoop said he'd love to play the part again, but with a few conditions. "The only way I'd do a sequel is if it's 'Starsky & Hutch Part II: Huggie's Revenge,' " he said, smiling. "And I need a love scene ... or two."
