Will.i.am has revealed how he gets inspired to make so many big hit songs - he listens to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The Boom Boom Pow hitmaker, who also produces for other acts - including Usher's recent OMG single and British singer Cheryl Cole's 3 Words - plays music by the late pop superstar when he's getting creative in the studio.
"We call it 'A-B-ing.'," explains the Black Eyed Peas star. "Anything you make, there's nothing new under the sun. So there's always an 'A and B', whatever your approach is.
"So if you want a song to be a big number one smash, then you have to play a Michael Jackson song while you're making your song," Will further added to MTV. "What you don't want to do is have a 'hit record' and then turn it on and it isn't as loud as Michael Jackson's."
