Dimond: Buckle your seat belts. It is going to be a long and bumpy ride on this road to cross-examination. I will tell you what. I have never seen a cross-examination like this in my lifE. This --
Reporter: Really?
Dimond: First of all, tom mesereau is very pointed, but a little convoluted questions. If you said this on this telephone call with frank casio tyson, then didn't you really mean this because it happened in this sort of time period. And this woman repeatedly stops him, looks at the jury and says, he's incorrect. I know because I was there. He's incorrect. You're inaccurate. You're inaccurate. It's unnerving to tom mesereau. It's unnerving to the jury, I think, to be spoken to directly.
Reporter: Isn't the judge admonishing her?
Dimond: The judge has admonished a couple of times, you must just answer the question, ma'am. Do not try to advance the storyline or advance the case. Yes, sir, yes, your honor and then the very next question is asked and she is asked about, you know, the letter "c" and she goes back to explain a & b before she talks about C. Let me give you a flavor of what's going on in there. I was trying to write floats as quickly as I could. He was asking her about not taking any money from the media, yet telling everyone the media was hounding her and why didn't she want protection. Why wouldn't she take money. She said it's not in my nature. He said, yeah, I know your position. But we'll get to the jcpenney case a little later on and the district attorney, you know, groans throughout the courthouse and you get my drift on that. So it's not just her that's going outside the boundaries there. He kept talking about, you never escaped from neverland, did you? Oh, yes I did. Well, how come you kept going back if you kept escaping. Well, jesus would take me home and then frank casio tyson would entice me back. Well, but you kept escaping. Yes, I did keep escaping and they kept pulling me back in. Back then I didn't know the information and now, and she throws her arms up in the air, I've got all sorts of information. He then went to the day she got a leg wax, a bikini wax, a lip wax, a brow wax. She said, no, no, he's incorrect I was there. This is all a big pr movE. They sent a camera crew with me. They were trying to show they were doing something nice for this young boy's mother. It was only a leg wax. It was only a leg wax. Well, it was $140. I'm telling you, she said it was only a leg wax. Then, we got to the rebuttal video. Of course, this is right at the heart of the state's case. They maintain that this woman and her children were held so and until she would agree to do the rebuttal video. So there was a lot of questions about that. And she threw up her arms at one point and said to mr. Mesereau. You know, I got in trouble because I didn't do it right. I'm just a poor actress. And tom mesereau said, oh, I think you are a good onE. Right away, before there were any objections, the judge admonished him and said that's not professional. I will not have that kind of behavior. I'm sorry, your honor. I apologize. Then he looked at the mother and said, it's your fault, too. I want you to know, you just need to answer the questions. Do you understand? Yes, sir. And of course, it went right back to it. The next question was about a man name bret ratner someone she mistakenly called on this audiotape mark ratner. They started talking about how her son went to bret ratner, this director, and asked if he could take him to florida so he can visit Michael Jackson there. Isn't that right, ma'am? And she leaned back, she held her hands up. She started to smile at him and she said, you know, stabbing the air, I have a lot of things in my heart about you, mr. Mesereau but you're incorrect. My son never did that. So it's just been a bizarre back and forth.
Reporter: You couldn't write this. It's crazy.
Dimond: You know who I was sitting next to? Your old partner, jim hammer. He looked at me and he said, this is a moment to remember in court history. I have never seen anything like this either.
Reporter: And that's saying something. That's saying something. Unbelievable. Vinnie, this is -- just sounds like insanity going on in there. Full-on theater performance and mesereau is probably just getting started.
