El post de las dudas (peludas, xp!) sobre MJ

Another thing I was thinking about, on a different note. In Michael's solo tours as an adult, what were his best periods for vocals. I think easy answer is leg 1 of the BWT, then I was listening to various concert audios and I think that the L1 of the DWT is better vocally than the BWT (some examples are: SOOML, IJCSLY, Billie Jean, MITM ad-libs ). He just sounded better, in 1988, his voice sounded a lot deeper and gruff, whereas the first leg of the DWT, his voice was a lot smoother, and had less of a gruff sound to it. Here's my ranking for MJ's vocal periods:

1. 1987 BWT
2. 1992 DWT
3. 1988/89 BWT
4. 1993 DWT
5. TII rehearsals (what he heard at least)
6. L2 HWT
7. 30th Anniversary
8. L1 HWT

I think that MJ's live vocals in TII sounded actually decent when he sang out, ex: IJCSLY, WBSS, Human Nature. The only reason I have L2 HWT above 30th anniversary is mainly for the fact that MJ was a bit more in shape in 1997, and in 2001, he was slightly outta shape, but he had good moments vocally. What do y'all think of my list, haha.
Compare the ad-libs in MTIM at the begin of the DWT in 92 with the ad-libs of Bucarest or Another perfomance from september.

For this reason i said he was fatigue, he starts singing the ad-libs like the Bad Tour until Agoust, I think he did the change affter London 23th Agoust or maybe affter Viena, because in Fráncfort and Ludwigshafen he already sangs the MITM ad-libs like Bucarest

In 2001 he was out of shape xD.

If you hear his vocals on the second night on the ad-libs in The Way You Make Me Feel or Billie Jean you can hear he was out of breath.

In the HWT this not happened, but in the Royal Concert this happen in songs like Billie Jean.

I wonder how could be his performance on TII.

I think he needs put in shape, at the begining of TII rehearsals he was pretty good, but due to the propofol doses his health deteriorate so fast.
Exactly, he was outta shape in 2001. I thought about putting Royal Brunei in there but felt it kind of blended with the 96' leg of the tour, haha. I'm very curious how he would have sounded in TII. Guess we'll never really know.

In 96 he was out of shape too, i think in the History Tour he had a better shape but the difference than Brunei is few.

In 1997 i think he was able to sang and dance live, just hear his vocals in Lyon in TDACU.

I guess vocaly thinking TII would be a dissaster, in songs like BJ probably the ad-libs would sound fatal due to the lack of shape of Michael in June rehearsals.

I really strong doubt, if michael on the early TII rehearsals have the same shape he had on the 30 aniversary or maybe a bit better.

I don't know about you, I think he should have lowered the key on most of the songs, I know he was a perfectionist, but honestly it would have been more comfortable for him as a vocalist to lower the pitch, I never understood why he didn't transpose more songs in TII. It's a mystery really, because people who worked on TII were saying that he never lost his voice and that it was there, but part of me wonders how much of what they were saying about his performances those last two/ three rehearsals especially was true.

- On another thing you mentioned. Yeah you're right, there are energetic performances of Jam in 93'.
- I think he could have sung TDCAU live in 1997, he didn't sound too bad in Lyon, I mean he didn't sound great, but it was nice to hear his live vocals haha.

He start to last rehearsals in June, in Abril and May he was okey.

He never lost his voice, he only was so sick in the last rehearsals of TII.
